Mulan

Thoughts that stirred me up as I watched my favorite movie...Mulan.

Bamboo...

Be like a bamboo plant, "Bend, but don't Break."

If there's one thing I admire about the bamboo plant is it's resilience. Amidst the most harsh storm that sways it to its breaking point, the bamboo always manages to bounce back and stand tall.
Trials shouldn't make us falter. Give ourselves another chance, another try. No one ever succeeded by quitting. No one reached a compromise without bending a part of what they hold true.
Do you ever wonder why bamboo grows slowly? Yet after a few months of retarded growth, they suddenly reach for the sky in height. That's because they spend the first few months spreading their roots and holding on to the earth's crust. So when the time comes for them to mature, they would have taken all of the earth's nutrients needed for growth.

Tears...

Aside from the scientific explanation blah, blah, that's trivial for most of us, here's one thought.

"When one's heart is overfilled with joy, some spill though the eyes."

- Chinese proverb
